Fun fact about you:

People know me as part of a traveling couple but I actually love traveling alone. I've been traveling by myself since I was in high school. My first international travel was a solo trip too!

What do you like most about traveling?

The sights, meeting amazing locals and experiencing different cultures are a given. What I really like the most when traveling is when plans change due to inevitable mishaps, that's when the adventure really begins! I'm a very detailed planner, I organize everything months prior our trips. So when faced with challenging situations, we're forced to quickly think of solutions and we end up exploring more of the destination, making the trip more unforgettable. Luckily for us, things always work out in the end.

GM2.jpg

What do you do when you're not traveling?

I work at a fun digital marketing company that really gives importance to work-life balance so I get to travel to my heart's content, maximizing long weekends, holidays, vacation leave credits and the best perk, working remotely. Good thing there are plenty of destinations near Manila that we can just drive to every weekend if we're craving for another trip at the last minute.

Travel must-haves?

Staples in my luggage: microfiber towel, dry bag, packing cubes, GoPro and mirrorless camera, insect repellent, tanning oil, and sunscreen.

First thing you do once you reach your travel destination?

Ask the locals where they love to eat! Those are usually cheap but really good food. And I'm always hungry.

GM3.jpg

App you use most when you travel and what do you use it for?

Traveloka for booking cheaper flights and hotels (I love their promo codes) and Evernote to keep track of our expenses and to take notes for our blog writing.

What's your go-to traveling hack or tip?

Stick to DIY. Most people believe they get a great deal when they book an all-in package tour, but what they don’t know is that they can get an even better deal when they do their own planning. Plus, you manage your own time and do whatever you want at your own pace.

What do you like most about Wink?

Wink understands the needs of frequent travelers. With 7,641 islands in this country, we have so many beaches and islands to explore that we end up getting too much sun exposure. Wink gives your sun damaged skin the TLC it badly needs so you can go to as many beach trips as you want with bare but beautiful skin that's always camera ready.

GM1.jpg

How does Wink help you with your travels?

After traveling for years, my skin got so much sun exposure, especially my face, the part of my body that I'm most insecure about! After my Revlite laser facials with Wink, I got an instant confidence boost because it's done wonders for my skin from treating my blemishes, fine lines, pore size, pigmentation, and dull skin. Now I show more of my face in photos and don't hide behind the camera as much as before.

Favorite travel memory:

The first trip Beep and I went to will always be my favorite. I had an extra ticket to Malasimbo back in 2012 because a friend backed out and out of desperation, I asked random colleagues if they would buy it from me and accompany me to the trip. I barely knew Beep back then but he was game even if it was last minute. We both didn't have money to splurge for the trip so we pitched a tent, got PHP20 showers, and hung out under a shade at the beach realizing how much interests we have in common. That's when our adventure started and we've been traveling together ever since.

Something to check off your bucket list:

Explore the entire Philippines - from Batanes to Tawi-Tawi! Already working on it.

What do you do when you're not traveling?

When I’m not traveling, it feels like I’m still on a vacation because I live in La Union and the beach is just right in front of our house. I just surf and take care of my baby girl, Luna and we watch the sunset everyday.

What are your travel must-haves?

My travel must-haves are powerbank, VCO Virgin Coconut Oil to keep my skin moisturized, sunscreen and my favorite rose facial mist.

dn4.jpg

What do you like most about Wink?

What I like the most about Wink is their branding. Most of their clients are fun, adventurous, always on the go and confident women like me! Also, when I get a service done, they make sure that I am very comfortable and well taken care of.

How does Wink help you with your travels?

I wear bikinis all the time and it’s such a hassle to always bring razors and spend time and money on shaving. I am very thankful with Wink because now I am always beach-ready and I don’t have to worry about anything. And after each session, I feel more confident with my body.

dn1.jpg

Best trip you've ever been on?

The best trip I’ve ever been on was the first time I went to Siargao. It made me appreciate the simple things in life. I was so amazed how beautiful the island and the people who live there were. My day on the island consisted of surfing, eating and hanging by the beach.

Do you have a travel bucket list? If yes, what countries/places are on it?

I wanna see the northern lights with my family and skydive in Utah and Africa!

dn3.jpg

What do you love about traveling?

What I love about traveling is being exposed to a different culture and having to try different local food and hearing different languages. It feels good and liberating to be someplace where nobody knows you.

What has been one of your favorite dishes you've eaten while traveling?

I love Indonesian food.

dn5.jpg

If you can be anywhere right now, where would you be and why?

If I could be anywhere right now, I’d wanna be in Aspen, Colorado skiing.

What's your go-to traveling hack/tip?

Always pack light. Wherever you go, make friends with the locals.

What do you do when you're not traveling?

I transform smiles, as a dentist. During my free time, you can find me losing myself on the bike in my favorite indoor cycling studio or enjoying a cup of coffee or gin and tonic with friends.

What are your travel must-haves?

Bikinis; and not just one set, I bring a lot for options! Sunblock, a good pair of sunglasses, a beach mat that can also serve as a towel, a canvas bag to reduce plastic use, my trusty insulated water bottle, speakers and a journal to take note of all my adventures.

5.jpg

What do you like most about Wink?

I love Wink for making everyday life so easy for me. The staff are very knowledgeable and accommodating. They make the whole process stress free and hassle free. The laser treatment is also seamless; you don't experience any pain and you're in and out of the studio in a blink of an eye without sacrificing the quality of their services.

How does Wink help you with your travels?

Wink makes me feel even more comfortable and confident in my own skin. Wink has apprehended my pre-travel worries and has given me more time to relax and enjoy before and during my vacations.

Best trip you've ever been on?

Whenever I think about my best trip three trips always come to mind: first, a few friends and I went to Tacloban a year after typhoon Yolanda hit to visit and help those affected by the disaster. It was such a heartwarming and eye-opening experience for us. We ended our trip by camping in a simple but majestic paradise a few hours away called Kalanggaman, Leyte. Two sandbars spread like wings on each side of the island wrapped in crystal blue water. It was the perfect culmination of our trip; living the simplest way of life surrounded by such a breathtaking view. Second, My friends and I always start the year by heading to our secret spot in Nagsasa Island. Who would ever think such a peaceful paradise is just a few hours north of Manila. Nagsasa is the perfect mix of everything I love about the outdoors. The lush mountains are perfect for hikes. The water is cool and calm; always glistening when the sun is out. The beach is lined with hundreds of pine trees; a rare mix of nature. Trips to Nagsasa are always dear to me because it always makes me feel so grateful for the year that had passed and excited for what the new year has to offer. Lastly,  any trip to the magical island of Siargao is always the best. Driving motorbikes across endless rows of coconut trees, entering small roads that lead to quiet beaches, surfing in cloud 9, eating the best pizza in the world (beats even those I've had in Italy and New York), making friends that over time feel like family and just immersing yourself with the community is truly something you look for over and over again. Thus, making Siargao such a highly addictive place to be.

Do you have a travel bucket list? If yes, what countries/places are on it?

On top of my bucket list is an African safari, I also want to scratch off my list all the 7,107 islands in the Philippines. We are so spoiled to be living in paradise. The least we could do is appreciate it and take good care of it.

What do you love about traveling?

Traveling to me is synonymous to learning. You learn about different cultures, different ways of life, and the most valuable lessons for me are the ones you learn about yourself. Traveling pushes you out of your comfort zone but at the same time gives you so much comfort in the midst of change. The best gift traveling gives you is a change in perspective and recharging your mind, body and spirit.

What has been one of your favorite dishes you've eaten while traveling?

This is a tough one because I LOVE to eat. From the top of my head: Adobong posit from Neknek's carinderia in Real, Quezon, Pizza from Kermit and Sizzling Chickenjoy from Harana in Siargao, Peter Luger's burger in New York, Sushi made fresh from Tsukiji Market in sushi Dai, Truffle pasta from Trattoria Zaza in Italy,  and plum lemonade from the wet market in Bangkok.

6.jpg

If you can be anywhere right now, where would you be and why?

I would love to be in New Zealand right now enjoying the great outdoors. I am also loving the weather right now in New York because the leaves are all turning and everyone seems to share the same infectious energy before having to hibernate because of winter.

What's your go-to traveling hack/tip?

Always bring an extra foldable tote around. It's perfect when you need extra space in your luggage and a great way to save the environment by reducing the use of plastic when you go shopping. Also, engage with locals so you get the best deals and appreciate the place as locals do. Tourist traps take the fun out of traveling so it's best to get local knowledge over anything else.

Girl We Love: Cass Venzon

cass.jpg

What do you do when you're not traveling?

When I'm not traveling I try to find new things to do in my city, Manila can be pretty exciting when you give it a chance. From finding new thrift shops to exploring the weekend markets, you have no idea the fun I've had in our city.

What are your travel must-haves?

A good book, the perfect playlist, and a cute swimsuit.

cass3.jpg

What do you like most about Wink?

I love that Wink understands the life of a nomadic beach babe. It makes everything so painless and fuss free, which is what all the best things in life are. I also appreciate that you've cultivated such a positive and supportive community of women.

How does Wink help you with your travels?

Part of the reason I love traveling so much is because every new destination is an opportunity to have fun with the way I dress. So whether I'm throwing on a breezy sundress or a new bikini, the last thing I want to worry about is whether I've shaved or if I have a razor.

cass1.jpg

Best trip you've ever been on?

I spent a month in Mexico and routine consisted of eating and swimming. I would wake up, put on my bikini, and jump in the pool. I'd only break to walk down the street for some tacos and horchata. Then get back in the water, floating around until it was time for bed. Water, bed, water. That was my routine for a whole month and I've never felt more at peace.

What do you love about traveling?

It makes me feel like I know nothing about the world, it's such a humbling experience. One of the best parts is getting to know people from all walks of life and seeing which experiences we share and which could not be more opposite. Plus, food. I could eat my way through the world.

cass4.jpg

Do you have a travel bucket list? If yes, what countries/places are on it?

Definitely! Right now I really want to visit Morocco, Istanbul, Havana, and of course more Philippine Islands!

What has been one of your favorite dishes you've eaten while traveling?

I absolutely love the tapas in Spain, especially the potato ones. I could live off of those.

If you can be anywhere right now, where would you be and why?

I would probably be in Bali because I just visited it for the first time but we only stayed for three days. The energy is unlike any place I've ever been. It's laid back, fun, and has a something for everyone. I can see my self, spending weeks there.

What's your go-to traveling hack/tip?

Go at your own pace and don't be afraid to go out of your own, if there is something you really want to do, there's no shame in telling your group "Hey, I really want to see this. It's okay if you're not into it. We can meet up later." I feel like so many people sacrifice they're interests because they're shy. Traveling is a luxury, always make the most of it.

tabitha1.jpg

Exploring Negros Oriental and Occidental. You get the full experience when you go around those regions. I remember exploring Negros Oriental, jumping to different cities, eating delicious food, checking out nearby beaches and falls, and then making our way to Negros Occidental (in Dumaguete and Apo Island) to experience a quieter island life with amazing marine sanctuaries. We could live there forever!

The Philippines has so much to offer and I want to see all of it in this lifetime!

Oh my gosh, I remember staying in Pandanan, a small town in Sagay City. They have the freshest seafood I've ever had! We woke up to a breakfast feast of freshly caught oysters, clams, lobsters, and fish. It was pretty intense. That was one meal I won't forget.

Siargao or Baler. I've been itching to get on my board and surf!

What's your go-to traveling hack/tip?

"Invest" in an all-around pair of rubber slippers. They don't even have to be expensive! My slippers have gone through surf trips, treks, rivers, and boulders - and they're still alive. That's all you'll need to wear ;)
