The Biggest Mistakes People Make When Getting Laser Hair Removal

So you’re more or less decided on saying goodbye to razors, tweezers and waxing. You’ve come to realize that laser hair removal can change your life (and it will!). But before you schedule that first laser appointment, here are a couple of tips to help you avoid making rookie mistakes when getting laser hair removal.

The two most important questions you should ask before you undergo laser hair removal are: WHO will do your treatment and WHAT machine or laser will be used?

Beware of places that offer dirt-cheap laser hair removal treatments that are performed by untrained staff.

It’s important to choose an establishment that has already performed numerous laser hair removal treatments. Look for places that are highly recommended by others' positive feedback and reviews. At Wink, our laser hair removal treatments are performed by registered nurses who undergo rigorous training to ensure that you'll have a safe and worry-free experience.

Always make sure that it's actually a laser. TIP: If it’s IPL, it’s not a laser.

It's also important to find out what type of machine will be used for the treatment. Will it be a laser, or IPL? IPL, which stands for Intense Pulsed Light, is primarily used for skin rejuvenation and not for hair removal. Look for lasers that are primarily used for laser hair removal, particularly ones that have a long track record in safety. At Wink, we choose to use only high quality, medical-grade laser machines, all of which are U.S. FDA approved. ;-)

It takes several sessions, done at consistent intervals of 6 to 8 weeks, to see best results.

Laser treatments are effective but it doesn’t mean you’ll automatically be hair-free after your first session. Most people are blinded by misleading ads which suggest that one session is enough. It takes a series of sessions to zap all of those hair follicles, since hair grows in multiple phases, instead of all at once.

This means that treatment should be done every 6 to 8 weeks--not every 3-6 months or not only during the summer time!--so we can catch those hair follicles in their growing phase. Once you've completed a series of consistent sessions, then you can finally expect to be fuzz-free for good!

Gentlemax Pro Laser Hair Removal starts at P2,500/session
