WINKEND ADVENTURES: Cebu

You can’t do a good job if your job is all you do. At Wink, we know that the best ideas are sparked outside the four corners of our desk or studios. Our team believes in getting out there to see, explore, move, create and become.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR RECENT TRIP TO CEBU. WHO ARE YOU WITH?

I went to South Cebu with my college friends recently, and it was definitely one for the books! It was our first trip outside Luzon, and we have been planning it for almost a year!

WHAT ARE THE PLACES WERE YOU ABLE TO VISIT? WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVORITE?

We went to Osmeña Peak, Moalboal, Pescador Island, Badian, Kawasan falls, Sumilon Island, Oslob, and Tumalog falls. The highlight of our trip (and my favorite) was Canyoneering at Badian. It was a 4-5 hour activity that requires you to jump 20ft cliffs/falls. I'm so glad that I have a group of friends who are down for some adrenaline pumping adventures.

ANY TIPS FOR THOSE WHO WILL BE GOING TO THE SAME SPOTS YOU'VE BEEN?

The most important tip that I can't stress enough is getting there early! When we went to Oslob for Whale Shark watching, we didn't expect the number of tourists who would be there on a weekday. Find a trusted, local tour operator if you're planning to do Canyoneering. The tour guides are well-trained (safety first), and super friendly! They even insisted on taking our group pictures and videos for our travel video. Don't forget your action camera with floating poles, and don't bring your mobile phone with you.

Conquer and see the beauty of the mountains through the eyes of our SM MOA Nurse Therapist, Aphy Tadeo as she shares why she love mountain climbing.

What do you like most about climbing mountains?

The thing I like most about climbing mountains is the fulfillment that you feel after a hard climb, I may feel tired and hungry from walking uphill for hours but the sight of lush green trees and the feel of the wind against my face make it worthwhile. Nothing compares to the panoramic view from the top!

Any tips for first timers/beginners?

Eat a proper meal before the climb so that you have enough energy and bring enough water with you!

Why do you enjoy mountain climbing?

I enjoy mountain climbing because it's cheap, it's a form of meditation, it's healthy and I get to enjoy it with friends and meet other people as well.

"El Nido is known for its breathtaking limestone cliffs, emerald-colored lagoons and unspoiled beaches. I was in awe. I never thought such place could exist. Activities such as island hopping, eating sumptuous lunch buffet by the shore, snorkeling and kayaking were the highlights of my itinerary. My trip to El Nido was not just for relaxation, it has changed me into a better person as well. I will definitely come back!" - Janna

See the beauty of APO REEF through the eyes of our Bonifacio High Street Supervisor, Krystel Alacapa-Perez.

“What I liked in particular about Apo reef is how it is mostly untouched by human commercialization. It is a prime example of how beautiful nature is when it is left to flourish on its own. The clear, sapphire-colored waters, the colorful and wonderfully shaped corals, the vivid marine life and the cool sea breeze, these are just some of the things that make Apo reef a must see destination for nature lovers and adventurers alike.” – Krystel
